The Royal Art Society has been active in promoting quality Australian art since its inception. Inspired by the International exhibition staged in Sydney, the Society was established in 1880. Today there are 300 artists whose work is regularly exhibited at the Society's Lavender Bay Gallery rooms, promoting good quality Australian art in all mediums and genres. The renowned art school offers classes in general drawing, life drawing, painting, portraiture, still life, pastel watercolour, plein air, sketch clubs and workshops. Beginners are most welcome.
