Thrifty Car Rental Sydney Downtown

Easy to pick up, good vehicle, friendly staff and competitive prices. I was hesitant to use Thrifty when reading all the negative reviews but all I have seen so far has been positive. Thanks team!

Nice experience, handover was quick and Marie Christine was great to deal with, good value.
There was an issue with a big being my first vehicle but that is bound to happen with cars being parked underground. I went back to the desk to ask for a swap and they were very apologetic and more than happy to swap my car. Leanne swapped it over quickly and I was on the way. Drop off was easy as well, drove in and they took the car there and then. Will be back for sure

DON’T HIRE!!! So many hidden costs when you pick up the car that aren’t initially explained. Half of which are supposedly refund upon return. 3 weeks later… bond still not returned nor the prepaid tank of petrol I paid in the hope of being refunded if I returned the car with a full tank, which I did. The Customer service line they give you doesn’t exist… it’s an auto message telling you to email them. Anyone who answers the phone post hire will handball you to somewhere else. So far I’ve ended paying nearly $500 for the lowest rank economy Corolla car for a 24hour loan.

After years of only using Thrifty/Hertz, I went in to pick up my vehicle to drive from Sydney to Perth. After poking around on the system, the guy there Greg finds that I have an inexplicable do not rent against my name from 2013!! Despite having rented hundreds of cars since 2013, customer service removing the DNR as it is obviously a mistake, Greg and his boss Chloe decide not to give me the vehicle. Not only that, they went from treating me like a loyal customer to a criminal.
I had to cancel my trip and my partner had to go in my place. To make matters worse, Chloe rings my partner, who rented another smaller vehicle for an extra $1600 for the trip and tells her she has stolen the vehicle and it’s been reported to the police and needs to be returned immediately!! She has a valid rental agreement and paid in full! We called the police who said that Chloe is full of it as they did not receive any reports.
I have never been treated so badly by a car company ANYWHERE in the world. We are suing Thrifty/Hertz as Thrifty management and customer service didn’t even respond to calls or emails. My advice, stick to Avis/Budget or Europcar.

Posting because I read a lot of negative reviews but I had a smooth experience. We came on time to Sydney downtown, but the girl behind the desk was ok that we picked the car up later so we could do a city tour. The car we received was the car we booked, toyota rav 4 hybrid. The car was clean and had
